Through reading the news I see that the elections are coming up and every four years I see on November 3rd that American citizens have a very low voter turnout and our government would be much more democratic if we got more voters to vote at the polls. US Citizens are confused and not knowledgeable of the importance of votes to the polls and what affect votes make in the community. Which is why I wish to publish this article, to inform and persuade them to vote more and participate in the polls. The reality of democracy is that many citizens fail to participate in elections for many reasons. Some voters believe their vote doesn't count or matter in the final decision of the election as well as many states use suppression tactics to stop opposite teams from voting and in turn the states are harming the polls. Low turnout means low participation by less privileged citizens, who are already at a disadvantage in terms of other forms of political participation.
Being the child of two American Citizens my parents go through these issues a lot and in the terms of elections coming up I wish for people to learn more about how historically low votes there are as most citizens don't vote on election day, I wish to inform many like my parents through this research paper about the harms of low voter polls
Lower vote turnout means that the government doesn't accurately represent the nation. Low voter turnout is always bad in a democracy because it’s the people’s government the people’s voice matters. If voting is reduced then peoples opinions and views are silenced and in our community we exercise the right to share our opinions, it's the first amendment freedom of speech. High voter turnout also means that democrats/republicans are more likely to win compared to others as they get to vote in all elections and consistently come to the polls.
VOTE NOW!!
